building in any business in the center of venture capital. I am Alex Edmonds on the internet. I am known as Supreme rum ham. And this is the building and indie business podcast. Okay, so today um the format of the podcast is gonna be a little different. Um I'm kind of struggling with um revenue research and deciding whether I should move on to CSS art and I want to discuss that, so I'm going to go over the pros and cons of each one and um just to help me out kind of verbal thinking, so okay, let's get into it. Um Revenue research pros. Um The first pro is that I have a following for Revenue Research. Um I have Less than 50 subscribers, but they're they're they read my stuff, I know them. Um yeah, that's, I'll say more in the, in another part. Um I'm getting into a routine with revenue research, so I know how to find um content, I know how to organize it and yeah, I have the content right? I know how to get the content. Um With with CSS are I don't really know, I have to figure that out. So yeah. Um With revenue Research I can start interviewing people and they will help me to lighten the workload. So if I'm ever having trouble with the amount of work that revenue research takes um I can always get some help with that. Um Right. Full control. I have full control of every aspect of revenue research from the promoting two, how the website looks to the content, right? Um Yeah, revenue research has given me and helped me with other opportunities. Um So my riding has help me help me to grow an audience to um financial opportunities to getting me known in the in the maker community a little more um in the finance community and that has led to some opportunities, right. Ah Revenue research can carry over in other aspects of my life. So I'm learning about how an industry works and who are the big players and that could um carry over into investing. So if I ever wanted to invest and free apps are like free app companies or um invest in christmas trees, I know who the big companies are and who's um you know who's doing well in the industry, so I can invest in those companies, right? And then with writing that can help me in my next project, right? Because like I took my writing from my writing skills that I learned from open podcasts and I apply them to revenue research. So whatever I do next, um I can apply that uh from revenue research because my my writing has changed from open podcast revenue research, I have more um abilities and more techniques and more tools that I use that I didn't use um for open podcast, right? Um everyone will always be interested in financial financial writing. So um there have been companies built on financial writing, right? Um Yeah. So financial writing will always be, they're always be an audience for financial writing, right? Uh That's another pro um S. E. O. Search engine optimization. So I truly hate promoting and promoting my content. I never know if I'm doing it right or should I be doing something else or am I doing it right? Is it not working? Um And I hate it. But what keeps me calm and the thought um helps me keep going is S. C. O. Because I know just growing the Domain Authority of Revenue Research helps. And once I have enough S. E. O. Or domain authority that people come to the site organically and I can stop promoting, Right? So that's another pro of revenue research. Okay? CSS art pros I can copy CSS tutorials to get started. So if I want to build, let's say a square or some like I need to copy, I don't know some some shape with sand building like offense in CSS art. I can always take the tutorials and copy them to build that fence. So I can take a square from one tutorial and a triangle from another. And that will help me to build my fence, right? And then I can reuse those parts and other art. So I go from fence to a house. So I take that square from the fence and I take that triangle from the fence and I use that to build my house, right? I can't do that for Revenue Research. Everything has to always be original, right? And then the platforms that I put my art on will help me promote the art because they take a a fee for every time the art gets sold and um they want the art to get sold. So they get that fee and they will help me promote um my contact, right? Um I can make money from every sale is another pro for CSS art. And what this means is that I'm trying to learn N. F. T. S. And um and on the N. F. T. Platforms they allow people to um once the art gets sold for the first time any secondary cell, the artist can get a percentage of that sale. So I would be making money every time my art gets sold. Right? Okay. The next thing is zero startup costs. So um every uh there there are platforms for CSS art or N. F. T. Art where I can just put up the art and I won't cost me anything. So that's another pro for CSS are. Um And finally the last pro that I thought of was CSS art is a little more automated than other art mediums. So I have a problem with um Photoshop because I have to do every layer and I have to like shade things myself. Um Another stuff like that and for CSS art it's more automated because I can just move um like the shading, I don't have to shade it myself so that helps me, I don't really have a steady hand and that's why I have a problem with them, Photoshop. Okay. Mhm. Revenue research cons um I always have to be creating new content. Uh Right I talked about this a little bit in CSS pros um Every part has to be original. I can't copy it from somewhere. Um And then I can't just keep writing the same things I have to write about different industries. I'm able to take snippets, but I'm not there yet at a point where I need to be taking snippets, right? Um Another con of Revenue Research is that I need to promote the content myself. There's no one, no platform that will help me to promote my content because I own everything right? Um Yeah, then um I can't I haven't monetized revenue research, right? And then when I do uh create detailed reports for sale, um that's a one time purchase, right? So um people will only by That report one time and who knows how many people will buy it. And um unlike CSS art, I don't make money every I do make money every time it sold. But like for CSS art the value of the art will get sold for a higher price, right? But with detailed reports it's be one price. I could raise the price. But who knows if people will be responsive to that price increase right? In the final Revenue Research con is that I'm still struggling with promoting my stuff and it takes a couple months for S. E. O. To kick in. So I'm still like just waiting for that organic traffic and not knowing whether I should uh change up my promotion strategy. Right? Okay. C. S. S. Art and Cons. Um The first con is I'm starting from zero. I have very little skill and CSS um Especially with creating shapes, I can do like a layout a little bit but creating offense is a challenge. Um I'm starting from zero. Um in terms of shapes and I have no audience. So, um I don't know if people will buy my art, right? I just have to try and keep trying and because I'm starting out at zero, it will take me a while to get good at CSS art and a while to produce something that maybe someone will buy and girl following two, um get a following of people that are interested in my style of art, that they will buy my art, right? And then also, um with Revenue Research, I had an idea of what content I wanted to produce and I was able to just jump in right away. I don't have that right now with um, CSS art, I'm kind of just like, hey, I'm interested in this, but I don't know what to create, right? I don't have any ideas, especially for style. I don't know what style I should use. Um Right, then, another con of CSS art is, I don't know how to incorporate the podcast. So for revenue Research, I I have my content that I need to create and I use that contrary to the podcast to help me develop that content. So I have ideas in my head and I I use the podcast to shape my content. Hear myself speak it out loud. I'll get new idea to ideas while I'm on the podcast. So if you notice that on the podcast and versus the blog for revenue research, every blog post is a little different from the podcast episode. I'll either remove something that I didn't like from the podcast or, well, I'm speaking, I'll get new ideas. Um, and so that improves my my blog posts, right? But I don't know how I can incorporate the podcast into the yard because there's not much like things I could talk about to help me shape the content, right? And I love doing the podcast. It's one of my favorite things. So I don't know how I should how I could incorporate the podcast, right? Um Yeah. Another con of CSS art Is that so let's say I get people to buy in my art. Um I get one person to buy it, right? And that's one person that will buy, not not one person that will buy everything. But let's say a girl falling, I get 100 followers and one of those 100 followers will buy my art as soon as I put it up for sale. I don't know when they're going to sell that art again, right? They could Wait two weeks. They could wait a year. So, creating income from the art well, might be difficult because I need to rely on the recurring income, right, recurring revenue. And I don't know if I will get recurring revenue from new york because I'll get that one sale. But I don't know if I'm going to get recurring income. I guess if I create like a piece of art every week, then I will. But that resale has a lot of value. And I don't know if people will be re selling my art, right? And then another con is that it's hard to come up with ideas. Right? So I can't I don't even have the idea of what my style will be. So coming up with um other art and that style will be difficult. I already know that from right now. Um Yeah. And then the thing with N. F. T. S. And uh their platforms is you can only use one platform at a time, right? And so for revenue Research, I have all this control. Right? Um I can repost my blogs somewhere else. Um I can do um take my blog posts. And instead of posting on the blog, I add it to another publication and get people to subscribe to Revenue Research. Um I can't do that with N. F. T. S. It's one platform and one platform only. And that creates scarcity, Right? So um it uh to put my art on a different platform onto platforms, it kind of defeats the purpose. Right? Okay. Um Another thing is if you didn't know this about me yet, um you should really look into how I talk about money and realize that I'm super cheap, admittedly. And I've spent money on Revenue Research. And I feel like by switching immediately and like going to another uh project I and wasting money. Right? So that's another con of CSS art. Okay. And then um four CSS art, I'm getting help from the platform promoting the content, but I still need to do promotion, right? And I feel like two do a different medium altogether from writing to art, I need to promote my content differently. Um and I don't know how to do that, I don't know how to promote my art, right? I can go from right now, I do twitter, I do Tiktok, I do email, but well, tiktok and twitter and email be appropriate for art, I don't know. So I have to learn a whole new way to promote my content, even though, like I said, I'm bad at promoting my content, so maybe I need to change, I don't know. Okay. And then another con is that I have to apply to these platforms, right? I just don't sign up, so who knows if I get accepted? Um So I'm gonna be learning this new form of art. I'm gonna take a lot of time to get good at it. Maybe take me three, maybe six maybe a year. Um To get better. Um I don't know. So who knows? Even if like I might be good I might think I'm good but these platforms might not think I'm good because they have artist that have been working on their medium and creating art for years. I do just even like looking at their at some of the artwork on these platforms. It makes me and I'm intimidated by it because it's it's such great work like anything I do now on Photoshop, I'm a little like worried putting on putting that work on a platform because I'm like my art will be next to this three D. Um gift and it's so fantastic looking. There's like I saw one art piece of art that's like ahead of Warren Buffett and it's moving around in a circle like three D. And I can't do that. So why should I have my little like one dimensional um supreme rum ham logo next to this really amazing piece of art that the artist probably took hours to create it right? It's intimidating. Okay. And then uh the last con is that digital art might be a fad And this goes along with that people always will want financial writing. So I could maybe take three months six months to learn that this all this digital art stuff and CSS art and then it's in a bubble and then I start Selling art at the six month mark. And um no one's buying art in the seventh month because it's a fad. I don't think it is. It has a lot of value like N. F. T. S. And theory um are on the ethereum Blockchain are here to stay. But I I honestly can't say that for sure. You never know. And then also um people see this as an investment right? So investments always have cycles. So I could be working on this for six months and um people are buying in my art and then Um 18 months later or let's say I started nine months. So three months later um people stopped buying art and they stopped buying my art and then what am I going to do then? I'm still going to create art but no one's buying it. So I have to wait till the next cycle right. It's not stable. Um And this is all just speculation right there. It could it could be stable but I don't know I know that financial writing is stable because um it's a whole industry, right? There's the Wall Street Journal, there's yahoo, finance, there's there's something stable that says, hey, this, this will be around for years. Um I don't know that for N. F. T. S. Right, okay. That's all I have for this episode. Thank you for listening. Have a nice day.
